One Common Denominator: Undefeated New Canaan and Darien Football Teams Use BlueStreak Sports Training as a Secret to Success on the Field

Stamford, CT - November 20, 2008

November, 20, 2008 Stamford, CT: For eight grueling weeks, the varsity football teams from New Canaan and Darien participated in a rigorous training program three days a week at BlueStreak Sports Training. Both teams went through BlueStreak's elite football training program, named 4th Quarter Power. The football players who went through the program saw substantial gains in speed, agility and power.

Last summer marked the third consecutive year that New Canaan has trained at BlueStreak. Coach Marinelli, New Canaan’s head coach said, "I believe it's been the backbone of our success since we started there two summers ago." Ever since New Canaan has participated in the BlueStreak program, they have won consecutive CIAC class MM State Championships. New Canaan seeks a three peat for a State Championship and its first FCIAC championship since 2000. This will not be an easy feat with a strong team Darien standing in their way.

Darien hopes to win their first FCIAC and State Championship in over 9 years. Following the 2006 football season, Rob Trifone was made head coach of Darien. One of his first acts as head coach was to contact BlueStreak and set up an intense training program for his team. "In the 30 years that I have been coaching high school football, the two biggest changes that I have seen in the game is that so many of the athletes are stronger and faster than they use to be. There were always teams with 3 or 4 strong or quick athletes, but now when you watch your opponent its hard to find an athlete on the field who is not strong, fast or quick. The speed training at BlueStreak has become a cornerstone of our Blue Wave football program," Coach Trifone said of the BlueStreak program. He went on to say to his team, "Regardless of the wins and losses, this group of young men is a pleasure to work with as they see obstacles as nothing but opportunities to step over and rise above to become a better team." Coach Trifone saw a big difference in his team gained from a summer of training at BlueStreak and Darien has been a mainstay at BlueStreak ever since. Darien has a huge opportunity in front of them to win an FCIAC and State Championship.

Both teams worked extremely hard during their preseason training. They performed their strength program at their respective schools and trained at BlueStreak three days week. "We are extremely proud of both teams. To go undefeated in the FCIAC is an incredible accomplishment, especially in the best high school football conference in the state. BlueStreak is honored to be part of both teams’ success," said Matt Cole, President of BlueStreak.

Jay Clement, the Director of Running Operations at BlueStreak, worked with both teams on a day to day basis and said "We have not trained two more dedicated teams than Darien and New Canaan. They came ready to work hard every day; they paid the price for an undefeated season and now it comes down to who wants it more."
